Pierre Bourdieu’s interventions from the December 1995 strikes until his death in 2002 have been the target of some very bitter judgements. He has been accused of getting “somewhat belatedly” involved in political action, capitalizing on his scientific fame or again harking back to hackneyed intellectual patterns. This compilation is about the genesis of one specific mode of political intervention, whereby social sciences and militant action, far from opposing each other, could well be considered as merely two facets of the same analytical and critical work on social reality, done with the ultimate aim of transforming it.
